2017 brought many enigmatic updates for employers and business professionals facing new Labor Laws and compliance requirements. The Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce was proud to offer its annual Labor Law update event to shed light and clarification on several topics of concern for the new calendar year. Many TACC members and their Human Resources representatives attended the January 24th event; which was graciously hosted at the Toyota USA Auto Museum in Torrance and generously sponsored by PBF Energy.
Moderator Rob Van Lingen of Van Lingen Towing, and chair of the Government Affairs Policy group at the TACC, led the expert panel through a series of questions that were designed to address the concerns of all in attendance, from small business to large corporations. Special thanks to the panelists for their time and expertise in advising TACC members on best-practices for the year ahead. Karl Schmidt, General Counsel to Parker, Milliken, Clark, O’Hara & Samuelian, Ellen Mary Michele of Pelican Products, and Mistee Ruiz of Facio made up the expert panel, fielding questions from many TACC members.
“As a growing business, the information was important, timely, helpful, and filled with content,” said Michelle Bourque, owner of Bourque Music and TACC member. She continued, “I found value in the real-life examples they presented. It was such an important meeting. Thank you so much for the wonderful programs the Chamber provides it’s members, non-members, businesses and community.”
