In a unique blend of professional networking and community impact, the Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce Young Professionals Group (YPG) will host an exclusive Food Drive & Mixer on November 14th, 2024, at 5:00 PM. In partnership with The Volunteer Center South Bay – Harbor – Long Beach, this event offers Torrance Chamber members the chance to build connections while supporting the essential Food for Kids program, an initiative providing weekend meals to children in need.

Attendees are encouraged to bring food donations, including items like canned goods, shelf-stable fruits, and meal components, listed on the event flyer. Each donation ensures that children in under-resourced schools receive nutritious weekend meals during times when school-provided meals are unavailable.

Josh Gezahegn, President/CEO of The Volunteer Center, underscores the indispensable role of community support, noting, “Support from the community is the only way a program like Food for Kids can continue to exist. Last year alone, the Torrance and South Bay communities donated over 43,000 lbs of food through various donation drives, providing over 103,000 weekend meals. Unfortunately, food insecurity has been on the rise, and local food banks are struggling to keep up with the demand. Community donation drives like this make a huge difference to supplement that gap.”

This November 14th, the Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce invites you to make a meaningful difference in the lives of local families through this impactful evening of networking and community support. The event will be held at The Volunteer Center South Bay – Harbor – Long Beach. RSVP is required, and registration can be completed at www.torrancechamber.com/event/YPGNOVEMBER.
