Get ready for the Women in Business program, “Whatever She’s Having: A conversation on being authentic in friendships, learning to take time for yourself, and how to excel as a leader. This program will take place Wednesday, August 7th at 8:30 am at the Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce.

Casey Coleman Schwartz and Kit Coleman Werts from Flower Duet and friends Jann Middo and Hayley Mullin from Sockprints will be featured speakers.

Flower Duet had started as a part-time weekend business after Casey retired from designing flowers on luxury cruise ships around the world and Kit had immersed herself in floral design courses for a few years.

“Flower Duet was started based on sharing the skills of floral arranging with friends. We have kept that as the mainstay of our business and have shared this art with thousands of people. It is an activity that unites friends, makes people happy and delightfully has kept us teaching for almost 25 years,” explained Casey and Kit.

Also presenting will be Jann Middo and Hayley Mullin from Sockprints. Combining their work experience in the apparel printing business and fashion legwear industry, Jann and Hayley began experimenting with sock printing in their living rooms, discovered their “AHA” moment, and Sockprints was born.

“We love diving into chats about authenticity, carving out me-time, and swapping leadership tips with others. Engaging with women business leaders on a regular basis helps us grow individually and as a business. We also welcome fresh perspectives to challenge our thoughts and stay current” shared Mullin.

Women in Business is a program convening and connecting high-level women leaders in government and business. The goals of the program are to help women leaders create and strengthen a network of allies to champion their work and provide opportunities for professional growth and development.
