Torrance Bakery is celebrating its 40th anniversary with a ribbon-cutting event on Monday, July 22, 2024, at 11:00 AM. This event launches their “7 Days of Giving” campaign, benefiting various charities, including the Torrance Chamber Foundation.
The ribbon-cutting event will kick off a week of giving, where Torrance Bakery will donate proceeds from cookie sales to 7 different charitable organizations throughout the week. A portion of those proceeds will also be gifted to the loyal staff that have made the 40-year journey possible. By selecting these organizations as beneficiaries, Torrance Bakery underscores its commitment to supporting local education and workforce development.
Since 1982, the Torrance Chamber Foundation has partnered with local schools to enhance education, support career development, and enrich the community. The initiatives include programs like the Small Business Week Art Contest, Holiday Mixer, Black History Celebration, Business for a Day with Shery High School, various scholarship awards and more. These efforts have been instrumental in fostering a skilled workforce and supporting the community.
Sherry Kramer, Director of Community Relations & Marketing at Continental Development Corporation and past Chairwoman of the Board for Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce, notes, “The Torrance Chamber Foundation has been instrumental in supporting local education through a variety of programs. The Chamber constantly adapts to the current needs as communicated by our schools and can rely on its members to step up, share, and lead through experience.”
This year, the Chamber is excited to introduce new programs, such as the Jr. CEO program, to inspire and prepare young entrepreneurs for future success. Kramer highlights this evolution: “The Foundation started with high school career development and now includes middle school and elementary school students. They will soon launch a program for 6th graders at Madrona. The Chamber knows how education and business can collaborate for the future workforce.”
