Each year, the California Chamber of Commerce (CalChamber) identifies extreme legislative bills that would inflict burdensome laws and regulations on the business community if passed. Once identified, the bills are labeled as “Job Killers” by CalChamber and are prioritized in the advocacy efforts of countless groups whose aims are to create a strong economy in California. The Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce (TACC) actively partners with CalChamber and other business advocacy groups to help stop Job Killers from passing into law.
TACC was recently commended by CalChamber Executive Vice President of Corporate Affairs, Dave Kilby, for being a dedicated advocacy partner. “When it comes to what differentiates (CalChamber) from other groups, our relationship with our strong local chamber partners is obviously high on the list,” wrote Kilby in an email to TACC President & CEO Donna Duperron. “Many thanks to you and your members for being an important part of the ‘voice of business’ team!”
Kilby was writing in regards to a recent opinion-editorial piece by political columnist Dan Walters commending the effectiveness of CalChamber’s advocacy against Job Killers in 2015 — a year in which 18 of 19 Job Killers were prevented from passing into law.
