Congratulations is extended to Craig Leach, President & CEO of Torrance Memorial Medical Center. Leach, who was surprised with the news at his office, will be presented the Distinguished Citizen of the Year Award at the upcoming State of the City event on Thursday, March 17th, 2022.
Since 1953, the Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce has annually selected the Distinguished Citizen of Year whose achievements have been significant to the community and to the general welfare of the people of Torrance. Leach’s incredible work to support the community is recognized, admired, and noteworthy as he is involved as a Board Member with various health care related organizations including the Vivity health Network and the Torrance YMCA.
Craig Leach became the President, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at Torrance Memorial Medical Center on January 1, 2006. Craig began his career with Torrance Memorial in early 1984. He served as both the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer prior to being named the organization’s CEO. Craig was born and raised in Torrance, California.
He graduated from Loyola Marymount University in 1977 and became a Certified Public Accountant while working for Deloitte in Los Angeles. He left public accounting in 1981 and was the Controller and Assistant Administrator of Finance at Centinela Hospital for three years prior to his move to Torrance Memorial. Craig has been married since 1978 and has three sons who are married, as well as seven grandchildren.
“I am fortunate to have known Craig since my early 20s when we both worked at another hospital. I found him then, as I do now, to be one of the most brightest, personable and fairest people I know. This is such a prestigious award for the Chamber to give out and one Craig is so deserving to receive. My heartfelt appreciation to the Chamber for recognizing his many strengths beyond Torrance Memorial Medical Center and the incredible difference he makes in the South Bay community – Congratulations Craig!” – Sherry Kramer
