The California Labor Law Update is a highly anticipated event hosted by the Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce (TACC) that addresses yearly changes to labor law that may affect members. Mistee Ruiz, TACC Board Member, Founder and Chief People Officer of Facio, LLC, and Karl Schmidt, Chairman and General Counsel, Parker, Milliken, Clark, O’Hara & Samuelian, APC will be the speakers for this year’s event on January 12.
Facio, LLC is a human resources and organization development firm based in Southern California. With over 25 years of experience, Mistee leads and manages a team that provides small to medium-sized businesses with HR support in multiple areas. She has successfully guided other business owners, executives, and stake holders by generating a strategy on building and keeping a cohesive team of employees, and guarding against litigation. “It is important to attend this event because our responsibilities as employers are changing daily. Consider this short Zoom as an opportunity to obtain HR guidance without the costly expense”, Misty Ruiz.
Karl has over 30 years of experience in labor and employment law. He specializes in the following areas of law: employment, discrimination, wage and hour, labor, executive compensation, unfair compensation, and ERISA fiduciary and compliance law. He advises international, national, and local employers of all sizes, many small to medium sized banking institutions, and he counsels executives and employers in executive employment, separation, and contract issues. “California has a large and complex body of employment related laws, many of which carry severe penalties for violations, however minor they may be. The TACC annual update alerts attendees to potential new issues of concern and affords the opportunity to ask questions for clarification”, Karl Schmidt.
With their expertise, Mistee and Karl will be able to answer questions and empower members with knowledge on current labor laws and compliance updates for 2022. The chamber would like to thank Mistee and Karl for speaking this year, and our distinguished sponsor, Rodium Open Air Market. This year’s event will be held on Zoom due to the omicron variant. To participate, register here before January 12.
