We often hear how important relationships and partnerships and are to business. This Out and About visit is one that I will remember, for a long time, as it has to do with a long-time chamber member, Moog Aircraft Group; a partnership with Los Angeles Air Force Base, and the generosity of California Water Service Company.
Nick Ioppolo, Site Manager, Moog Aircraft Group welcomed Colonel Thomas Rock, members of the Range and Network (RN) Division, Los Angeles Air Force Base, Dan Armendariz, District Manager, California Water Service Company and me for a tour of Moog Aircraft Group Torrance this past Tuesday.
As a member of the Honorary Commanders program, I am encouraged to exchange ideas, share experiences and foster friendships between members of LA AFB and the Torrance community. Colonel Rock, who I am partnered with, stated he would like members of the RN Division at LA AFB to see ‘first hand’ how parts are made for military aircraft.
Moog Aircraft Group is a worldwide designer, manufacturer, and integrator of precision motion control products and systems. Moog’s high-performance systems control military and commercial aircraft, satellites and space vehicles, launch vehicles, missiles, industrial machinery, wind energy, marine applications, and medical equipment.
As we walked through the facility it was amazing to see how clean and organized the facility was, as well as the variety of parts being manufactured. Greg Walborn, a 30-year employee with Moog, provided the in-depth tour.
At the conclusion of the tour, a luncheon was hosted by California Water Service Company to introduce Colonel Rock and members of the Range and Network Division to the individuals in the Torrance community. Attending the luncheon were Nick Ioppolo, Greg Walborn and Dawn Salvatore, Moog Aircraft Group; Torrance Fire Chief Martin Serna; Dan Armendariz, Tracy Maestro and Dan Felix, California Water Service Company; Sergeant Major Raul Duran and four JROTC cadets from North High School; and Leah Conrad, Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce. Also in attendance were representatives from the Public Affairs Division of LA AFB.
A personal note of appreciation is extended to Ioppolo for his generosity in hosting this memorable tour; to Colonel Tom Rock and the members of the Range and Network Division for your service to our country and to Dan Armendariz, California Water Service Company, for your support of this memorable activity.
