The conference is the culminating event of the Increasing Veteran Employment in Torrance (iVet) program. The program, a first of its kind, is an innovative approach to solving Veteran unemployment and workforce issues.
Two Job Preparation Academies, led by the Employment Development Department, have taken place over the last two weeks preparing over 20 local Veterans for employment opportunities with local businesses. The TACC is expecting to host at least fifty additional local Veterans seeking employment opportunities at Friday’s conference.
The TACC has also recently hosted America ICARE’s Four Pillars of Hiring and Sustaining Veterans Workshop for a dozen local Hiring Managers participating in the iVet program. America ICARE, a nonprofit Veteran support organization, trained participating employer representatives in best practices to recruit and sustain Veterans in the workplace. Employers also received information about local, State, and Federal support programs that aim to help employers hire more Veterans.
The TACC welcomes everyone to stop by the Toyota USA Automobile Museum this Friday at 10:30am for a brief opening program with remarks by ASM Al Muratsuchi, Torrance Mayor Patrick Furey, and Brigadier General Kurt A. Hardin. The TACC will also partake in a special signing ceremony showing employer support to members of the National Guard and U.S. Army Reserve. The conference is free and open to the public. Come show support for our local businesses and Veterans as they meet to find well-suited employees and employment opportunities. The TACC would like to thank the following Chamber members for participating and/or sponsoring the iVet Program:
