The Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce has been presenting the Black History Celebration for over two decades, honoring the contributions of the many African Americans who space our nation’s past, present, and future.
Latrice McGlothin, Executive Director for Kinecta Community Foundation and master of ceremonies stated “The evening was an engaging and encouraging gathering of people from various professions, schools, backgrounds, families, and civil service members, meeting together to inspire and be inspired through stories of resilience. We don’t often hear of the heroic, heart-driven, courageous and brilliance of community leaders and students of color in the news.”
Chamber members come together annually to recognize the contributions of African Americans who have made a difference on the world stage as well as those that have changed lives in our local community. This year was no exception, as we celebrated the many achievements of students and individuals in the Torrance area. “Events like these are paramount to showcase the positive steps being taken to disrupt the status quo, demonstrate love for one another, and secure a better tomorrow” stated McGlothin.
