About The Chamber

The Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce (TACC), founded in 1939, is a membership organization of approximately 800 businesses. The Chamber’s mission is to provide for its members through five core competencies: by creating a strong economy, providing networking opportunities, supporting the interests of business before government, taking political action, and promoting the community. Through these competencies, the Chamber helps business to grow and collaborate to assure prosperity for the Torrance area. As the South Bay’s leading business advocate for over 70 years, TACC offers a wide variety of innovative programs designed to strengthen and ensure economic growth.

The TACC Board of Directors is representative of local businesses both large and small. Large companies like American Honda Motor Corporation Inc., Toyota Motor Sales USA Inc., Exxon Mobile Corporation, Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems, DoubleTree by Hilton Torrance — South Bay, and Torrance Marriott; and small businesses like Torrance Bakery, South Bay Equity Lending, Mesko Ventures Inc., and Red Car Brewery & Restaurant. The Board of Directors also represents the healthcare industry with members from Kaiser Permanente, Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center—Torrance, and Torrance Memorial Medical Center.

As a member, you will be able to connect with the local, state, and federal elected officials, giving you an opportunity to hear from them at annual events such as State of the Region, State of the City, and Lunch With Our Leader, where representatives deliver their message about matters or issues affecting business.

The Chamber offers a number of group programs geared toward providing networking and learning opportunities to help promote your business’ growth. These programs include Government Affairs Policy (GAP), Networking at Noon, Technology Professionals of Torrance (TECH Pros), Health & Wellness, Human Resources (HR), Professional Roundtable of Financial Services (PROFS), and Green Torrance. These groups offer platforms to gain knowledge within specific areas of business.

The Chamber coordinates larger regional events such as The Gourmet Food and Wine Festival, Business Expo, and Women in Business. In addition, TACC celebrates the many cultures represented within the South Bay community with annual events, including the Japanese Business Association Mixer, Hong Kong Mixer, and Black History Celebration.

By becoming a TACC member, you and your business will have the support of this diverse programming. The Chamber’s strength is built on the participation of its members.

For over 30 years, the Chamber Foundation has actively promoted collaboration between local businesses and the Torrance Unified School District. Among these collaborative opportunities is the successful Adopt-A-School program. This business-education partnership between local schools and Chamber member businesses has bridged the gap between school and work for many Torrance students. Principal for a Day, Executive for a Day, and Business for a Day allows local businesses, through mentorship, to bridge the employment needs with a well-trained, well educated workforce pool.

The Political Action Committee (PAC) endorses candidates who run for public office at the city, county, state, and federal levels. Leadership Torrance and the Grassroots Public Service Academy also give interested participants a glimpse into local and state government. These programs are designed to educate members about the workings of all levels of government.
